HYDERABAD: “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference,” says chef Floyd Cardoz, a celebrated Indo-American chef who was in the city for an interactive cooking session with children from Ayush Nilayam, a branch of Hyderabad Marriott which helps the underprivileged.

Floyd was here to  teach 18 children of different age groups about the importance of eating nutritious food. All this while having a friendly chat with each of them, offering them a spicy and tangy dish with watermelon and apples that he had prepared for them, which brought smiles on all their faces.

Floyd believes that every little thing counts and therefore came down to help these children.

The Swiss-educated celeb chef’s  first cookbook ‘One Spice, Two Spice’ demystifies Indian food and flavours while teaching budding cooks how to expertly add Indian spices to American cuisine. From receiving The Best Humanitarian award to being named among the top 50 most influential Global Indians by GQ magazine, Cardoz has come a long way.

He also supports the Young Scientist Foundation (YSF) which enables high school and college students to work alongside accomplished researchers to develop new treatments for diseases. This Goan born who has lived in Mumbai for the most part of his life says his favourite dish is his mother’s lip-smacking mutton-rich Shakuti. He is an avid traveller and has travelled to Mexico, Japan and Argentina to name a few and has taken up various cooking secrets from different parts of the world.
