President to be chief guest at EFLU’s first convocation

English and Foreign Languages University will be holding its first ever convocation on April 26 for which President Pranab Mukherjee has consented to be the Chief Guest.

HYDERABAD: English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) will be holding its first ever convocation on April 26 for which President Pranab Mukherjee has consented to be the Chief Guest.

Although the central university is in existence since 2006, it has not held convocation earlier. The convocation will see a total of 364 students conferred with degrees including 93 UG students, 174 PG students and 97 PhD scholars from various faculties.

At another central University in city, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), on April 13, Vice President, M Hamid Ansari, will deliver the Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah Memorial Lecture.

The university said that the lecture series on the name of Golconda ruler, Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah as he represents the syncretic culture of India, especially in Deccan region. 

The Vice President is expected to speak on national integration and secularism, which comes in the backdrop of the recent events surrounding the issue of Ram temple in Ayodhya and the demand for beef ban across country by RSS. 

Governor, ESL Narasimhan and Telangana, Deputy Chief Minister, Mohammad Mahmood Ali will be the guests of honour for the lecture.
