HYDERABAD: How would you like to sit in the quaint one-train railway station called Malgudi and click your selfie? Perhaps a detour to the local post office of the same fictitious town to send off a quick Happy New Year telegram to your bestie?

Sounds nice? You can get a taste of R K Narayan’s bestseller ‘Malgudi Days’ right here in the city this weekend - January 7 and 8.

The Shri Ram Universal school,  Gachibowli, is organising a two-day carnival with a theme based on Malgudi Days. Speaking on the initiative, Principal Jyothi Reddy says, “The carnival is being held to bring awareness for kids on our rich culture and heritage, and for adults to reminisce those memorable days”.

Inspired by the simple and minimalist life of Malgudi Days in a village setting, the event seeks to offer a fun-filled experience for kids and adults with numerous games and activities. With Sankranti round the corner, a kite festival will also be held. And you can savour traditional delicacies at the venue.

The carnival is being organised in co-ordination with hi5, an event management company. Quoting Goethe, Jyothi Reddy says, “There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots, the other, wings. We aim to provide both”, and signs off.
