HYDERABAD: Denizens of Hyderabad will soon have to endure crater-like roads in the coming days.
For providing better facilities to the people, various departments of the state government along with private agencies sought permission digging 3,572 km length of roads under Greater Hyderabad limits.

“Before permission is granted for digging works by the GHMC, tenders for road restoration have to be finalised by the engineering wing and the dug up roads have to be recarpeted immediately,” GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy said.

To provide basic facilities like drinking water, electricity and communication systems the HMWS&SB, electricity board, cable and communication agencies have requested the GHMC to grant permission for taking up road cutting works for a stretch of 3,572 km and their road repairing works.

The GHMC wanted the agencies to complete all restoration works by May 31. HMWS&SB will lay water pipelines in 2,700 km length of roads while the electricity department will carry out works for 84 km.
