HYDERABAD: In what could be termed as an ambitious plan, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is mulling white topping most of the city roads by the end of next year. The Municipal Administration department has formulated a strategy for improving the road conditions in the city.

After successfully laying white topping over a stretch at Road No 10 in Banjara Hills, the GHMC has formulated proposals for laying white topping over BT Roads on several stretches in the city.

In a recent meeting with GHMC officials, Municipal Administration secretary Navin Mittal assured that after laying of white topping, there would not be any road cutting for the next 15 years. “Formulate a clear strategy to take up white topping of all roads in the city,” directed Mittal to the officials, while expressing concern over state of roads in the city.

Water Board officials furnished a list of roads where they would lay water supply pipelines. The electricity officials, meanwhile, requested the civic body officials to provide a duct in white topped roads to lay cables in the future. White topping requires much lesser maintenance when compared to bituminous surfaces.
