HYDERABAD: IT department suggested the heads of all IT companies in the state, particularly in Hyderabad, to start a team building exercise and also engage their respective employees under corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities so that the software professionals would inculcate some sort of responsibility towards the society.

IT department officials are in touch with the heads of various IT companies in Hyderabad to ensure that the techies are not doing drugs.
This is a follow up by the IT department after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials submitted a list of IT companies whose employees were doing drugs.

“I met some of the heads of IT companies. Some are summoned to my office and I called up some others. I wanted them to ensure that their employees are not using drugs. If any employee is found using drugs, then the heads will be asked to take the help of the police and proceed legally,” principal secretary IT Jayesh Ranjan told mediapersons at Secretariat on Wednesday.

Jayesh Ranjan said that the ED officials had submitted the list of IT companies and they had not provided names of individual employees.  Every IT company would have a code of conduct of its own. “We wanted them to follow the code of conduct and ensure that its employees do not indulge in illegal activities,” Jayesh Ranjan said.

‘There is no crisis in IT sector’
M Jayesh Ranjan said that of the 4 lakh IT employees in Hyderabad working in IT firms, some 20 employees taking drugs was not a serious problem. “Those using drugs are not even 0.00001 per cent of the total IT employees. There is no crisis in the IT sector in city,” he said.
