HYDERABAD: Enraged by death of a 16-year-old patient due to alleged medical negligence, a mob ransacked a private hospital in Lakdi-ka-pul in the city on Thursday. The Saifabad police have registered a case against family members of the deceased for ransacking the hospital and manhandling duty doctors after the incident.
According to police, a minor boy Suresh from Amberpet was admitted to Lotus hospital a few days ago with complaints of hearing issues.
“As the boy died while undergoing treatment, the doctors informed the parents about it. Irritated over the death, the family members ransacked the hospital and damaged the furniture. The family members also manhandled the doctors at the hospital,’’ said sub-inspector Ravi Kumar.
The hospital management lodged a complaint alleging that the family members committed offence in assaulting doctors and damaged the hospital furniture. Based on the complaint, the police have registered cases under section 147 (Punishment for rioting), 458 (Lurking house-trespass), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) read with 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence ) and section of medicare service and medicare service institutions Act.
However, the family members lodged a complaint alleging that the boy died due to negligence of doctors.
