4-year-old boy dies in hospital, kin allege negligence in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Family members of a four-and-half-year-old boy, who died eight days after undergoing surgery at Prathima Hospital in Kachiguda, lodged a complaint with police alleging that negligence of doctors led to boy’s death.

The boy K Manivardhan Yadav from Karwan was admitted at the hospital on March 20 and underwent surgery for Tonsillitis on March 26. However, he died on early hours of Wednesday. Police said that, boy’s father, lodged complaint alleging that negligence of the doctors led to the death. The hospital’s medical director Dr Radha Krishna said that the surgery was taken up after detailed evaluation and Manivardhan developed complication while recovering from anaesthesia effect.

“The patient was kept on ventilator and he was monitored round-the-clock in ICU. His response to medicines slowly deteriorated and he passed away,” Dr Radha Krishna said.
