Baby drowns after falling into open sump in Hyderabad

Narsingi police received a complaint from the child’s father, Tejas Srikanth Jadhav, a local labourer.

HYDERABAD: Sourabh Jadhav, an eight-month-old baby, died after allegedly crawling into a water sump at his residence in Labour Colony, Gandipet, on Wednesday.

Narsingi police received a complaint from the child’s father, Tejas Srikanth Jadhav, a local labourer. According to the complaint, Tejas, his brother Shankar, and mother Usha had left for work in the morning, leaving his wife, Radhika, home with their son.

At approximately 1 pm, Shankar returned home. The noise woke Radhika, who immediately realised the infant was missing. During the search, the family discovered the water sump lid was open and found the child floating inside.

Sourabh was rushed to a private hospital by 2 pm , where doctors declared him brought dead. Police stated that the child had accidentally fallen into the sump and the family suspects no foul play. A case has been registered, and the body was handed over to the parents following legal formalities. Further probe is underway.
