KOCHI: Pulinchodu Junction on the Edappally- Aluva National Highway will have a complete facelift in the near future, as it is at this junction that the elevated track of the metro rail will enter the National Highway.
Though the junction has been earmarked as a future railway station in the detailed project report prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, traders are planning to request the authorities to include the junction in the main list of stations and commission it along with the other stations.
While a few shop owners are upbeat over the Metro Rail Project, others expressed their concern over land acquisition.
They fear that they will be forcefully evacuated for the project.
It is the stretch from Aluva to Pulinchodu that requires the maximum eviction in the first phase due to the presence of a lot of residences and commercial establishments.
“There are many houses on this stretch demarcated for the alignment. Once it reaches Pulinchodu, the elevated track will pass through the median on the National Highway. A detailed discussion will be initiated with the residents in the area before starting the land acquisition procedure,” said Land Acquisition tahsildar T K Baby.
