KALADY: A two-day workshop on practising ‘chuzhippu’ in mohiniyattom for teachers and senior dancers began at the Sree Sankara Natya Mandapam at Sree Sankara School of Dance here on Thursday.

Chuzhippu is a specialised training programme meant for attaining perfection in various dances, kathakali and kalari.

Normally, men are given training in chuzhippu.

The practice of chuzhippu for mohiniyattom dancers is rare.

The syllabus of chuzhippu for woman dancers in mohiniyattom was prepared in consultation with doctors and gynaecologists in order to suit the movement of their body, the officials said.

Dance and kathakali master C P Unnikrishnan will lead the sessions.

Sudha Peethambaran will assist Unnikrishnan in the workshop, which will conclude on Friday.
