KOCHI: Commodore Vijesh Kumar Garg is slated to assume command of INS India, the administrative support unit of the Indian Navy at New Delhi. Commodore Garg will hand over the command of INS Garuda, the first air station of the Indian Navy located at the Southern Naval Command, to Captain Himanshu Sapre on Tuesday.
Commodore Garg was at the helm of INS Garuda since May 2008. During his command of INS Garuda, he played a significant role in all operational assignments of the Southern Naval Command, including anti-piracy operations, coastal security and search and rescue.
An aviator by profession, Commodore Garg's command tenures included command of Naval Air Station INS Utkrosh, INS Suvarna, Air Squadron 330 and INS Vidyut.
