KOCHI: Based on a complaint filed by actor Shweta Menon, the Ernakulam Central police on Wednesday arrested K C Abraham, the owner of Kunnath Pharmaceuticals.

Shweta filed the complaint after certain billboards and hoardings promoting an aphrodisiac, manufactured by Kunnath Pharmaceuticals, surfaced in the state showing her seductive pose in the upcoming film 'Kayam.'

According to the actor, the manufacturer of the product and the producer of the film had used the images without her consent to promote the product.

Central SI P S Shyju said that the owner of the pharmaceuticals company was arrested based on the complaint lodged by the actor. "We arrested him. But as it is a bailable offence, he has been released on bail," Shyju added.

Shweta had approached the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate court seeking an explanation from the manufacturer and producer of the film for using her images without her consent to promote the product.

It is learnt that the actor had also filed a complaint with the Kerala State Women's Commission against the producer and the manufacturer.

Shweta Menon was the second runner-up in the 1994 Miss India contest. She made a strong comeback to Malayalam film industry through "Paleri Manickam Oru Pathira Kolapathakathinte Katha" and won the state award for the best female actor.
