Congress leaders gathered together at the Ernakulam Town Hall to share their memories of George Eden on Saturday, on the eve of his ninth death anniversary.

Inaugurating the commemoration meeting, Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies K V Thomas said George Eden still lives as an evergreen leader in the heart of millions. “His unique way of working style and his stand on various issues made him different from other leaders of his times. His witty nature, simple behaviour and incomparable lifestyle, all combined together made him an outstanding politician,” he said.

In his speech, GCDA chairman N Venugopal said even years after Eden’s demise, the vacuum which was created by his dearest friend’s death is yet to be filled. “I count it as a huge personal loss.  He was a great friend of mine and his commitment to the people was matchless,” Venugopal said.

Mayor Tony Chammany, MLAs Dominic Presentation, Benny Behnan, Anwar Sadath, Hibi Eden, District panchayat president Eldhose Kunnappilly, Deputy Mayor B Bhadra, DCC president V J Paulose and Consumer Fed president Joy Thomas were present.
