KOCHI: The Department of Physics, Cochin University of Science and Technology, in association with the IUCAA Resource Centre (IRC) and SPIE CUSAT Student Chapter, is conducting a workshop, ‘Physics - scope and awareness’ for school students, entering Class X in 2012.

The workshop will be held from April 23 to April 28 at the department.

The workshop envisages to provide an opportunity to students to interact with the faculty members, and also witness some of the advanced experiments being carried out in the research laboratories of the department and also to gain handson experience on various core experiments in physics, telescope making and the like.

There is no fees.

Candidates are required to make their own arrangements for their stay.

However, accommodation will be provided to outstation candidates on payment basis depending on the availability of rooms in the university hostels and guest house.

Students are required to apply in the format given and applications must be duly recommended by the heads of the institutions.

Due to the limited number of seats, only one student may be recommended from an institution.

The last date of submission of application is April 2.

Incomplete applications will be rejected.

The selected students will be informed by April 12.
