KOCHI: The driver of a crane had a providential escape on Tuesday night when the crane fell from the North RoB on a JCB which was parked beneath the bridge. Both the vehicles were brought for the North RoB renovation work.

Jaimon Joseph, the driver of the crane, said the accident occurred after the break of the vehicle got damaged. “I was on night duty. When the vehicle reached the top of the bridge, the brake got damaged and the vehicle started moving backwards. In order to avert a major mishap, as there were vehicles on the road, I tried to move the vehicle aside. But I lost control over it and it fell down from the bridge. As I had no other option, I jumped from the vehicle,” he said.   The driver of the JCB suffered a minor injury on his leg. Some vehicles got some scratches.
