KOCHI: For tapping the potential of coir  industry, the state government and the Coir Board will set up an international museum in Alappuzha. The decision was taken at the 208th Coir Board meeting which was held here on Sunday.

Aimed at attracting foreigners, domestic tourists and research students, the museum will throw light into state’s decade-old coir industry, said Coir Board chairman G Balachandran.

To enhance the market for coir products, the Coir Board will also take part in international trade fairs in 24 countries and market the de-husking machine developed by the Coir Board Research Station at Kalavoor.  Awards will be given to those who develop advanced spinning machine.
