New Officers Take Charge at Southern Naval Command

Rear Admiral K Ravikiran has assumed charge as the Admiral Superintendent of NSRY (K) (Naval Ship Repair Yard Kochi). The NSRY (K) undertakes maintenance and repair of warships.

Commissioned into the Engineering branch of the Navy in July 1979, the Admiral’s earlier tenures include the Chief Staff Officer (Technical) at the Headquarters Southern Naval Command and the Deputy Director General of the Naval Academy Project. He has also headed the NSRY,Kochi in 2008.

Rear Admiral R Hari Kumar has assumed charge as the Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST) of the Navy. The FOST certifies battle worthiness of the Navy’s warships in addition to providing practical operational training to warships and Coast Guard ships.

An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Rear Admiral Hari Kumar was commissioned into the Navy in January 1983. A specialist in gunnery and missile warfare, his important sea tenures include Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet and commands of the destroyer INS Ranvir and the aircraft carrier INS Viraat.

He is a graduate from the US Naval War College, Rhode Island and Royal College of Defence Studies, London. He has also been India’s Naval Advisor to the Government of Seychelles. He has been honoured with the Vishisht Seva Medal.
