Hockey star Sreejesh ties the knot

Indian hockey goalkeeper P R Sreejesh tied the knot with P K Aneeshya, former long jump champion and ayurvedic doctor, here on Sunday.

The marriage took place at the Pallikkara Erumely Mahavishnu Temple here. The couple, which got to know each other 12 years ago, had first met at the G V Raja Sports School. Aneeshya is the daughter of Krishnan Kutty and Radha from Idukki. Sreejesh, son of P V Raveendran and Usha of Pallikkara, is a prominent goalkeeper of the Indian hockey team. Apart from serving as the goalkeeper in the 2010 Hockey World Cup, he also contributed largely to India’s win in the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy.

Sreejesh has proved his mettle at various international games, besides being selected as the vice-captain of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.

He also represented India during the 2012 London Olympics. Sreejesh is presently working with the Indian Overseas Bank, Chennai, as the branch manager.

The Indian hockey team is currently on a game tour in Netherlands. Sreejesh, however, stayed back for the marriage.
