Excise Minister K Babu on Sunday said that winning 15 awards for a handful of literary works is proof that E P Sreekumar is a cut above the rest.

He was inaugurating the two-day programme titled ‘Reminiscence 2014’ to honour E P Sreekumar, who is retiring from the position of general manager of the Tripunithura People’s Urban Co-operative Bank after 35 years of service, held at Tripunithura Municipal Auditorium at Layam Ground on Sunday.

He also said that the writer showcased his versatility at the helm by successfully leading the bank in the past three decades.

After releasing the souvenir of the programme, former Cooperation Minister S Sharma said that the competence and dedication shown by E P Sreekumar in the cooperative banking sector is matchless and deserves much appreciation and respect.

He also mentioned that Sreekumar’s service as general manager of the bank has even drawn appreciation from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for his contribution to the bank for the past 30 years.

Bank Chairman C N Sundharan briefed the achievements of E P Sreekumar on the occasion. He has also authored two novels named Maramudra and  Mamsaporu to his credit,” he said. Tripunithura Municipal chairman R Venugopal also spoke on the occasion.

A two-hour-long musical fusion by Brahma Music Band was also held at 2 pm on the day.
