Man Hacks 18-year-old Girlfriend to Death

31-year-old man hacked to death his 18-year-old lover at her residence in the early hours of Thursday.

KOCHI: In a shocking incident, a 31-year-old man  hacked to death his 18-year-old lover at her residence in the early hours of Thursday. The deceased is Neethu Babu, daughter of Babu, residing near the fishermen colony at Udayamperoor.

The Udayamperoor police arrested Binuraj,son of Raju, who is the neighbour of the girl,in connection with the incident. 

According to the Udayamperoor police, the incident occurred around 7.45 am when Neethu was brushing her teeth at the terrace of her house. The accused, Binuraj stormed into the terrace of the house and hacked her with a chopper. The girl died on the spot. She reportedly sustained a deep cut on her neck. According to an eyewitness,the teenager was hacked severely without any provocation.

It is also learnt that the girl was alone at the time of incident after her father who is an autorickshaw driver left the house. 

“During questioning,it was revealed that both of them had been in love for a long time and Binuraj wanted to marry her.

When the girl’s parents objected to the proposal as she was a minor a few months ago, the case was settled at the police station after giving him an assurance that the girl would be married to him once she attains 18.However, the enraged Binuraj hacked her following suspicion that she was engaged in a new relationship,” a police official said. Binuraj was nabbed by the police on the way when he tried to escape after the people in the surroundings rushed to the spot following the loud scream of the girl. The police said the interrogation is on and the accused would be produced before the magistrate on Friday. The body of the girl has been handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination.

The police officials also added that the girl had been trying to avoid him for the past few months after a verbal fight between them.
