Sports Stars Get Thumping Welcome at College

KOCHI: After a fortnight of stardom at the 35th National Games held in Kerala, when five sporting stars returned to their college bouquets and wishes greeted them. Buoyed by the greetings of their fellow students and the love showered by their teachers and the non-teaching staff, the St Teresa’s College’s young achievers returned to their regular academic life on Monday.

Elizabeth Susan Koshy who secured gold medals in women’s 50m Rifle Prone and women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions events, Arathy Sara Sunil who secured silver in Badminton team championship, M H Haritha, Agna Anto, K P Sruthy (partner of Farha Mather) who secured bronze in Badminton Women’s Doubles and Nayana Philip who took part in the Beach Handball Tournament are the five sportswomen who were welcomed by the crowd.

“The gesture was great. After the grand reception ceremony in the morning, I was felicitated by the Economics department in the afternoon. To my surprise, my classmates had something special in store for me. A cake with my picture on it and the entire class decorated with balloons,” said Elizabeth Susan Koshy, third year student of Economics.
