KOCHI: Here’s yet another treat for film buffs! A Taiwanese Film Festival organised by the Cochin Film Society and Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre, Chennai will feature five films which have earned laurels at several International Film festivals across the globe. The three day festival will be screened at the Children’s park theatre from Monday.
Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre Director Frank Ming - Cheng Lin will inaugurate the festival on Monday at 5.30 pm at a function where Joshy Mathew, Vice Chairman of the Kerala Chalachitra Academy will be the chief Guest.
The film ‘Girlfriend Boyfriend’(2012) will be screened at 6 pm, following the inaugural ceremony. The 106-minute film directed by Ya-che Yang set in the backdrop of the 1980’s Taiwanese socio-political reformation movement tells the story of three rebellious students caught in a love triangle, who leave their hometown to pursue their lifelong dreams in the big city.
‘Hear Me’ will be screened on Tuesday at 6 pm and then ‘When a Woolf Falls in Love with a Sheep’ at 7 pm. The 109-minute movie ‘Hear Me’ (2009)directed by Fen-fen Cheng revolves around the tale of two sisters who support each other. A young man named Tian Kuo falls in love with one of the sisters.
When a ‘Wolf Falls in Love with a Sheep’ (2012)Directed by Chi-jan Hou is an 86-minute film on Tung who awakens one morning only to find his girlfriend has abandoned him, leaving a single note stuck onto his forehead.
On Wednesday, ‘The Fourth Portrait’ will be screened at 5 pm while ‘Seven Days in Heaven’ will be screened at 7 pm.
The Fourth Portrait (2010),the 105-minute film directed by Mong-Hong Chung is based on the life of a ten year-old Xiang who faces a lonely future after the death of his father.
He finds comfort in drawing and his work reveals his longing for care and affection.
Seven Days in Heaven (2010), a 93-minute film directed by Essay Liu and Yu-Lin Wang narrates the story of a woman who returns to her farming village within seven days of her father’s death.
