KOCHI: A two-day International conference on Photonics and Solar Water Splitting (PSWS - 2015) was organised by the Department of Physics, St Teresa’s College. The photo-electrochemical and photo-catalytic water splitting can be thought of as a ‘miracle’ that directly converts water into fuel. This is a breakthrough research that will solve the energy  and fuel crisis that the world faces today.

PSWS-2015 is one of the first international conferences that is devoted to this topic.

The conference was inaugurated by Arthur Braun, scientist and Mary Curie Fellow, EMPA, Zurich, Switzerland. He also released the book of abstracts of papers presented in the conference.

In the keynote address, Braun talked about ‘Solar water splitting : Everything around iron oxide. Radhika T, scientist, C- MET, Thrissur presented a talk on Hydrogen generation via photocatalytic water splitting. Sr Vinitha, principal presided over the meeting. Sajimol Augustine M., H OD., Physics welcomed the gathering and Santhi A, convener of the conference proposed the vote of thanks. Siddharth Joshy, A. L.
