Tobacco Cessation Centre Opened

KOCHI:The Department of Public Health Dentistry has started a Tobacco Cessation Centre at Amrita School of Dentistry, as part of its public health activities.

 The Centre was inaugurated by Amrita School of Medicine principal Dr Prathapan Nair and Amrita School of Dentistry Principal Dr Balagopal Varma the other day.

  The services offered by the centre include assessment of tobacco dependency, individual

intervention in the form of behavioural modification, counselling and nicotine replacement therapy.

  It also aims at creating awareness among the general public on the harmful effects of tobacco through various programmes.
