Director Rajan Sankaradi dies

KOCHI: Malayalam film director Rajan Sankaradi, also known as P Rajagopalan, passed away at a private hospital in Aluva on Monday night, at the age of 63.  He is survived by wife Usharani, son Sooraj and daughter Parvathy.

According to relatives, Rajan was rushed to  hospital after he collapsed at the residence of a relative in Aluva during a family function. He breathed his last about half-an-hour after hospitalisation.

Rajan, son of Balachandran Menon and Bharathiyamma, was a former student of Aluva UC College. After studies, he moved to Chennai and started his film career as an assistant director under filmmaker Balachandra Menon. Later, he directed three films - Guruji Oru Vakku (1985), Meenathil Thalikettu (1998) and Cleopatra (2013). He also worked as associate to several prominent Malayalam filmmakers, including Sibi Malayil, Joshiy, Fazil and K Madhu.
