KOCHI: One of the biggest contribution of Maharaja’s College to the society is its illustruous alumni who are present in all walks of life. The famous writers to have come out of the college include G Sankara Kurup, ONV Kurup (Jnanapith winners), Changampuzha Krishna Pillai, B Hridayakumari and Balachandran Chullikkad and literary critics M Leelavathy, M Krishnan Nair, S Guptan Nair and M K Sanoo.

Politicians including A K Antony, K R Gowri, Vayalar Ravi, Vaikom Viswan, Thomas Isaac and Binoy Viswam had been modelled by the charged politcal atmosphere of the collge. Acclaimed jurists like Justice K G Balakrishnan, Justice K K Usha, Justice K Sukumaran and Justice Haroon Al Rasheed are also among Maharaja’s illustrous alumni. Of late Maharaja’s is know for the acclaimed film personalities it has produced. Actors Mammootty and Dileep feature among the early entrants to the industry. The group of filmmakers that rides the ‘new generation wave,’ Rajeev Ravi, Amal Neerad, Anwar Rasheed, Ashique Abu and Sameer Thahir were very active in the political and cultural space of the university.
