Internal vigilance cell in Kerala police dept restored

The state police have reconstituted the internal Vigilance cell to check corruption in the force. Crime Branch chief ADGP Nithin Agarwal will head the cell.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state police have reconstituted the internal Vigilance cell to check corruption in the force. Crime Branch chief ADGP Nithin Agarwal will head the cell.

The decision to restore the cell was taken by state police chief T P Senkumar in a special meeting convened in the police headquarters. 


The cell will come under the purview of Right to Information Act. The DGP also issued an order in this regard on May 20.

Agarwal will be the Chief Vigilance officer while Dinendra Kashyap IG, Mahipal Yadav IG, A Srinivas and P N Unnirajan are the members of the panel.  The DGP decided to restore the cell after some RTI activists filed a query on the functioning of the cell.
