KOCHI:  The authorities at the Thiruvairanikulam temple here are going full steam in their efforts to ensure a safe and comfortable darshan to the multitudes who are expected to visit the famed place of worship during the annual festival from January 1- 12 , according to the members of the temple trust. A review meeting scheduled for Friday to be chaired by Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran will discuss further measures to be initiated in this regard, they told reporters here on Monday.

The temple trust has decided to rope in the Sreemoolanagaram panchayat for a joint campaign to rid the Thiruvairanikulam area of waste and the programme will be inaugurated by Minister Surendran. The early morning darshan will start around 3 am and the online queue booking will start by Friday. In view of the heavy rush of devotees expected to throng the temple during the nearly fortnight-long annual festival, the KSRTC has decided to run special services with night schedules too in the offing.

Four parking grounds have been arranged and lanes for devotees to stand comfortably in the queue have been set up. Besides, potable water will be provided to those standing in the queue, with facilities for emergency medical care made available.

Over 300 police officers and about 350 private security guards will be deployed on duty. Also, steps have been taken for strict adherence to the green protocol.
