KOCHI: The state government's Agency for Non-conventional Energy and Rural Technology (Anert) has launched a training programme for all the field level staff of the KSEB to promote 'Rooftop Solar Power Plants' in a big way, in tune with the policies of the state and Central governments to boost renewable energy.

A two-day training programme for the field level staff of the KSEB on rooftop solar power plants was inaugurated by Anwar Sadat MLA on February 16 at the Renewable Energy Centre, Mithradham, Aluva.
Rooftop solar power plants are more effective in grid connected mode and there was a  positive response from the public for this scheme, officers said. Kerala has allocated an amount of Rs 1 lakh for conducting a two-day training programme for 40 candidates. A release said 1,500 engineers of the KSEB will be trained in two months at various centres across Kerala. Experienced teachers from engineering colleges and experts from industry were invited for a two-day faculty training at Ernakulam to fine-tune the course material. A list of faculties were also prepared on the basis of the training.
