KOCHI: The first Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF)-laden truck, which set off  for Kannur International Airport Ltd from BPCL Kochi Refinery the other day, was given a rousing reception at Kannur on Saturday.
The truck carrying 29 KL of ATF was flagged off by V Thulasidas, KIAL Managing Director, in the presence of  Prasad K Panicker, Executive Director, Kochi Refinery. It is the first parcel for storage at the fuel farm set up by the BPCL there and a milestone in the development of KIAL which is set to commence operations in December. “BPCL Kochi Refinery had started producing Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) way back in April 1978. This had helped to service Boeing and Airbus flights which commenced operations from Thiruvananthapuram at the time, pursuant to the petro dollar boom,” said Prasad K Panicker.
