Education Minister M.A.Baby inaugurated the digitisation project of archives in Thiruvananthapuram.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government will consider appointing  research officers at the archives libraries in the British model, Education Minister M.A.Baby has said.

The Minister was inaugurating the digitisation project of archives carried out by the State Archives Department in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.

``Through these projects, the State Government aims at the democratisation of knowledge,’’ the Minister said.   Lakhs of palm leaf and paper manuscripts at the Central Archives of the State Archives Department would be digitised as part of the project.

 Archives Department director J.Rejikumar, V.Surendran Pillai MLA,   councillors M.P.Lalitha Bai and P.Rajendra Das were among others who attended the function.
