THIRUVANATHAPURAM: 'Agneyam' telecast by Doordarshan has been selected as the best television serial of the State Television Awards for the year 2009.

The State Television Awards 2009 were announced by Cultural Affairs Minister M A Baby here on Monday.

Manikandan and Meera Krishna have been selected as best male and female actors for their lead roles in 'Unaru' and 'Agneyam', respectively. Both the serials were telecast by DD.

Prem Prakash, the producer and K K Rajiv, the director of the serial will be awarded `25,000, a citation and a sculpture.

Baby said that the awards for the year 2010 would be announced soon.

'Swartham' telecast by Amritha TV was adjudged as the second best serial.

The 'return' telecast by Gramika Television was selected the best telefilm (less than 20 minutes duration).

The 'Athira XC' telecast by Amritha TV was selected as the best telefilm (more than 20 minutes duration).

Priya A S, bagged the award for best story for the telefilm 'Charulathayude Baki',which has been censored but not telecast. The award carries `10,000, a citation and a sculpture.

Mangadu Ratnakaran (Asianet News), Shamnad Puthuserry (Asianet) and Ebin Raj (Shalom TV) have been selected for the special jury mention.

For entertainment: Kathaprayumbol (Kairali TV).

Best comedy programme: Comedy Star (Asianet).

Best dubbing artiste (male): Shoby Thilakan (Nizhalum Nilavum Parayunnathu', Amritha TV) .

Best dubbing artiste (female): Sarada Teacher ('Agneyam', Doordarshan) .

Best director (teleserial/telefilm): Ajan ('Athira', Amritha TV) .

Best actor (teleserial/telefilm): Manikandan ('Unaru', Doordarshan).

Best actress (teleserial/telefilm): Meera Krishna ('Agneyam', Doordarshan).

Best child artiste: Nandu (Kunhikkoonan, DD).

Best cameraman: Sujith Vasudev ('Nizhalum Nilavum Parayunnathu').

Best music director: Viswajith (Amritha TV), `15,000. ENS
