Kollam Technopark inauguration on February 15

KOLLAM: Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan will inaugurate the first phase of the Kollam Technopark complex set up at Kundara at 4 p.m. on February 15.

It is the first of the four technoparks sanctioned along with Kannur, Alapuzha and Kasargod districts. The Chief Minister himself had laid the foundation-stone for the complex on February 10, last year.

Rs 75 crore was spent for the first phase of the complex. When completed, the Rs 800-crore project is expected to provide employment to at least 15,000 people directly and indirectly.

The Technopark is being set up on the 18 hectares of land made available by the Kerala Ceramics. As part of the first phase of the construction, a four-lane road from Technopark to Kottayam and the construction works of the road from Kristhuraj junction (Kanjirode) to the Technopark junction, have also been started.

Education Minister M A Baby, who is also the sitting MLA of Kundara, has requested the people to participate in a meeting to form a reception committee at the Mini Civil Station auditorium on February 6.
