The Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority (KSLMA) has kicked off the registration procedures for its Class X equivalent programme. Those who have completed 17 years of age or passed the seventh equivalent programme conducted by the KSLMA can apply. There is no age bar.

The programme is equivalent to SSLC which will help adult-learners go for higher studies and look for government jobs. The 10-month course has all subjects which SSLC students study.

However, the syllabus has been so designed for the adult-learners, enabling them to grasp the subject materials easily. The contact classes will be held on weekends and public holidays in select government/aided schools. The course fee is Rs 1,500 and examination fee Rs 300. The application forms and prospectus are available in  vidyakendrams of local bodies.

The application form costs Rs 100. The course materials will be made available once the classes start in the district centres. Last date for registration is July 31.
