The Ganesholsava Trust will organise  this year’s Ganesholsavam from September 1 to 10.

Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan  will inaugurate the state-level festival here  at 11 am on September 2. Philipose Mar Chrysostam Valiya Metropolitan will inaugurate the cultural meeting marking the beginning of the festival.

Trust chairman Subrahmaniam Kumar told a press meet here on Saturday that the Ganesha idols to be installed in various centres will be handed over to the local committees from the main idol workshop here on September 1.

This year, Ganesha idols will be installed and poojas will be performed in 3,600 centres across the state.

The idols will also be placed in 3.5 lakh houses for poojas. The construction of the idols, with sizes ranging from three to 30 feet, are in progress.

Around 200 sculptors from Rajasthan and Thanjavur are supervising the sculpting. Small idols, one to two feet high , meant for installing in houses, are also available here.

The kappu kettu ritual will be performed in Hanuman Temple at PMG Junction here on September 3.

From this year onwards, ‘Ganesh Puraskars’ will be instituted to honour persons  from various sectors for their meritorious service.

Celebration committee general secretary   Vattiyoorkavu Madhusoodhanan Nair, organising secretary G Jayasekharan Nair, treasurer Radhakrishnan and celebration committee office-bearers R Gopinathan Nair, S R Krishna Kumar and Vellayani Sreekumar were present.
