Tribunal Advocates Welfare Association against move to close down Kerala Administrative Tribunal

Express News Service

The Kerala Administrative Tribunal Advocates Welfare Association (KATAWA) has come out against the move to close down the Kerala Administrative Tribunal (KAT) and demanded to revoke the decision.

KATAWA general secretary V S Manikantan said that the Tribunal was set up in the capital city taking into account the increasing number of service cases.

He alleged that an Ernakulam-based lobby and some of the top officials in the government with vested interests were behind the move to close down the Tribunal.

He said that they would organise agitations if the decision was not revoked. The decision to launch agitations was taken at a meeting here, attended by Sasidharan, R Arun, Resmi Nair, Sanal Kumar and Abhilash, among others.

The KAT was set up as per a Central Government  notification on August 25, 2010 to handle service cases of the employees of the State Government, PSUs and Corporations.
