'National Games Date Yet to be Finalised'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sports Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said that the dates for the 35th National Games to be held in Kerala are yet to finalised and the works including that of games village in the state are steadily progressing.

‘’Already 90 per cent of the works have been completed. The works will be completed in a time-bound manner. As part of  promotion of National Games a marathon will be organised by the Sports Department with a participation of one lakh people from all walks of life. Various committees constituted will meet once the schedule of the games is finalised by the Centre,’’ said Radhakrishnan, replying to a question in the Assembly on Monday.  He said that the State Govt had asked the Indian Olympic Association for a date during January-February 2015 for conducting the National Games. ‘’But we are yet to get a confirmed date,’’ he added. The Sports Minister  said that 100 school students would be given sports scholarships.
