The eight Union Ministers from Kerala in the UPA Government could not achieve what O Rajagopal single-handedly did when he was Minister of State, BJP national secretary P K Krishnadas said on Sunday.

He was speaking after inaugurating Rajagopal’s election campaign at Koyikkavilakam in Kovalam.

“There is no doubt that the BJP will come to power at the centre. In that event, Rajagopal is sure to become a Union Minister,” Krishnadas said, urging the people to vote for the veteran BJP leader.

Rajagopal as Thiruvananthapuram MP will give first priority to the Vizhinjam seaport project, he said.

The Ayyankali Smrithi Mandapam at Venganoor will be made a national memorial if the BJP comes to power, Rajagopal said, offering tributes at the memorial ahead of his election campaign in Kovalam.

The memorial is now locked under court orders. The condition of the Ayyankali Memorial School is also dismal. Steps will be taken to renovate the school, he said. Ayyankali was a prominent community leader and one of the leaders of the independence struggle, Rajagopal said.
