Nine Branded Coconut Oils Banned

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Food Safety Authority has banned nine branded coconut oils in the state after identifying adulteration. Brands such as Kera Plus, Green Kerala, Kera A-1, Kera Super, Kerala Drops, Blaze, Pulari, Coco Sudham and Kallada Priyam were banned. The Food Safety Commissioner has issued an order prohibiting the storage and sale of these brands as per the Food Safety and Standards Act.

Storage or sale of these brands might invite a penalty of up to Rs 2 lakh. If it is identified that the prohibition is breached knowingly, measures including criminal prosecution would be taken. If the brands are again found in market, it shall be informed through the toll-free number 1800 425 1125 or contact Assistant Food Safety Commissioner at 8943346181 or the Reserve Officer of the Commissionerate at 8943346198.
