V Karunakaran Nair Passes Away

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:Former Mayor of city corporation and CPM leader V Karunakaran Nair breathed his last at a private hospital here due to age-related ailments the other day. He was 81.

  The body was kept at the Corporation Office for public to pay last respects on Tuesday morning. Urban Affairs Minister Manjalamkuzhi Ali, Mayor K Chandrika, Deputy Mayor G Happy Kumar, CPM district secretary Kadakampally Surendran and V Sivankutty MLA were among those who paid obeisance.

Cremation took place at Santhokavadom crematorium. Karunakaran Nair is survived by wife Omana Amma, sons Ajayakumar, Anilkumar and daughters Ajitha Kumari, Anitha Kumari and Anjana.
