Vellanad Naraayanan Passes Away

Lyricist Vellanad Narayanan passed away at his residence at Vellanad.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Lyricist Vellanad Narayanan passed away at his residence at Vellanad late on Saturday. He was 72. He was battling cancer for the past few years.

He is known for penning ‘Ninne Punaran Neettiya Kaikalil Vedanayo’ in the movie ‘Sarawathi Yamam’. Apart from writing around 50 Malayalam movie songs, he has also contributed screenplays for TV serials such as ‘Devi Mahatmyam’. In 2008, Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Academy honoured him with Gurupuja Award.

He is survived by his Vasantha, sons Balamurali and Chitramohan and daughter Sreekala. He was cremated on Sunday.
