THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Vyapari Vyavasya Samithi has urged the government to extend by another 15 days the duration of the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) which is slated to end on January 15.

A statement issued by traders’ association state president Binni Immatty and secretary E S Biju said that the consumer loan facility extended by the Kerala State Backward Class Development Corporation for the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival has evoked a rousing response from the shoppers. “However, the facility could be availed of only by 5,000 shoppers,” they said.

“The decision to provide consumer loans to the common man will not only benefit them but also the business establishments,” they said.

“It is learnt that Rs 25 crore has been allotted for the consumer loan facility. If the festival is extended by another 15 days, an equal amount will be spent in the market,” the statement said.
