Probe Team Seeks Legal Advice on Arun Kumar's Prosecution

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:A Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau team which investigated the Coir Board corruption case against V A Arun Kumar, son of Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan, has sought legal advice on the possibility of prosecuting him.

Last year, the Vigilance registered a case against Arun Kumar, who was Board MD, and two others in connection with alleged financial irregularities of `47 lakh.Vigilance Special Cell SP V N Sasidharan who conducted the investigation submitted his report to the legal wing three weeks ago. It is understood that the investigation team has recommended prosecution of the accused. But a final decision will be taken only after the legal wing and senior officers, including the Vigilance Director, studies the report, sources said.

A preliminary investigation had found prima facie evidence on anomalies in connection with the construction of a godown for a private company in Cherthala. The company’s consultant R K Ramesh and contractor Mohammed Ali were arraigned in this case.
