Drug peddler held with ganja and syringes in Poonthura

Upon interrogation, the police learnt the accused had major connections with drug mafia

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : The city shadow police on Wednesday nabbed a drug peddler who allegedly possessed ganja and syringes used for injecting drugs. The Poonthura police recorded the arrest and the accused has been identified as Fayaz aka Doctor Fayaz, 34. According to the police, Fayaz is a notorious drug peddler and he used to inject drugs to the needy persons who approach him, this also included school students. He charged Rs 500 for each drug injection. 

Similarly, he had also supplied ganja to the youths in different quantities. Upon interrogation, the police learnt the accused had major connections with drug mafia. He used to bring the substances from Bengaluru, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. 

According to P Prakash, city police commissioner,  details are being collected to investigate the sources of the drugs. He also said the probe will be extended to other districts as well. The arrested has been produced before the magistrate who remanded him in the judicial custody for 14 days, the police said.
