VIJAYAWADA: SRM University’s Amaravati campus will be inaugurated on July 15 by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu. The State government allotted 200 acres of land in the capital region to SRM University. The university management has come up with its own building within a short span of five months and is set to start its academic session from this year.
During a press conference held in the city on Thursday, SRM University president P Sathyanarayanan said that SRM, a 40-year-old institution, which started as a simple school, has developed as a world-class institution and now stands as a top private university with campuses all over India. “Amaravati campus is our fourth campus in the country.
We want the campus to have the best research wing for which we are ready to invest about `3,000 crore. In the first phase, we have invested `1,000 crore, for the school of engineering, science, journalism and mass communications, management, law and even a hospital.”
The president further said that SRM University Amaravati would provide world class infrastructure for the students with all kinds of amenities. “For this academic year, we are only initiating three engineering programs-BTech Computer Science, Electronics and Communications and Mechanical Engineering. We would also like to take admissions for Electronics and Electrical department. To offer the best quality education, we have collaborated with international universities like MIT and UC Berkeley college of engineering in USA. In the next phase, a medical college, M Tech and Ph.D programmes would be introduced.”
Addressing the gathering at SRM University Amaravati campus, Pro-Vice Chancellor D Narayana Rao said that the entire campus was built on an area of 6 lakh square feet.
