VIJAYAWADA: The organs of city techie Ch Mythri Tejaswini, who lost her life following a major accident late on Tuesday night, was sent to different hospitals in the State and Chennai. Tejaswini, who worked for an IT company in Chennai, was visiting home in Gunadala for Easter celebrations. As she was returning home with brother Michael Raviteja on a two-wheeler, a drunk police constable-- who the eyewitness said was rash driving-- hit them from behind.

Later, the doctors at a private hospital declared the woman brain-dead and counselled her parents about organ donation.Tejaswini’s heart was sent to Global Hospital, Chennai; liver to Apollo Hospital, Visakhapatnam; one kidney to Vijaya Hospital, Vijayawada, while another to Narayana Hospital, Nellore; and eyes to LV Prasad Eye Institute, Vijayawada.

The software professional’s brother said: “We are proud to donate her organs as they will serve the needy. Drunk driving by a person has killed my sister and shattered my family. We do not know when we can recover from this shock.”

Police Commissioner Gautam Sawang consoled Tejaswini’s father and Raviteja at Metro Hospital on Thursday. He assured the family that strict action would be taken against the accused police constable, who was currently in remand. Sawang appreciated the family for taking the decision to donate her organs.
