Experience instilled responsibility in Snita Sahu

Diana Sahu

Twenty-two-year old Snita Sahu of Cuttack believes gathering work experience before entering any field helps in many ways. And that is the reason she has been part-timing as a teacher at a kindergarten school in the city ever since she stepped into college six months back.

She is a first-year philosophy student of SB Women’s College and with an aim of becoming a teacher after her postgraduation, she has started devoting time to teaching kids at a playschool every day before going to college. “Since this is my first year of my college, there isn’t much pressure on me. I would consider giving up the job during the third year when there would be more of examinations and assignments in college,” she says, adding that she would go ahead to do BEd.

“This job of mine would certainly serve as a launchpad for me to get better jobs in the sector after I complete my studies,” she says. Snita also plans to do a professional course in kindergarten education system after graduating. “This does not affect my studies in any way as I enjoy what I am doing. I have learnt time management as well. Besides, being with these kids is fun,” she smiles.

Snita also believes that time is money in today’s fast world. Besides a sense of independence and responsibility, it pays for personal expenses, she says. She gets a salary of `4,000 a month of which, she saves half for future expenses.
