HYDERABAD: With the State Assembly elections coming to an end, residents of several localities will heave a sigh of relief as pending civic works will finally resume.

It looks like Himayat Nagar residents will be a happy lot among all the other areas, as pending works of constructing CC roads and stormwater drainage pipelines will now be addressed. At street number: 5, for the last five months, the pending civic works like dug up roads, laying cement concert (CC) roads and restoring of the stormwater drain has been halted. The works that have already been going on at a snail pace, were further halted by rains and now by-election.

Several representations by the residents to the GHMC officials proved futile. Residents point out that inconvenience has become an everyday ordeal with the dilapidated condition of the roads and under-construction of sewage pipelines.

Suzy Abraham, a resident of Himayat Nagar, said, “Due to dug up roads it is tough for us to commute. Uneven roads have now become a cause for concern as many of us here got injured after the vehicle skid.”
Ch Swetha, GHMC asst engineer, admitted that CC road works are delayed because of the contractor, who didn’t receive the pending bills. “With MCC in place, the bills couldn’t be processed. Within one week, the pending works will be completed, she assured.
