CHENNAI: September 26 will see yet another serial go on air on Kalaignar TV. What’s special about this one is that it will be directed by ace filmmaker Bharathiraja. The serial, titled ‘Appanum Aathalum’, will replace ‘Thekkathi Ponnu’, which too was written and directed by Bharathiraja.

Incidentally, ‘Thekkathi Ponnu’ also marked the debut of the director on the small screen. The serial, with over 750 episodes, will come to an end on September 20. ‘Appanum Aathalum’ will have actress Rama play a significant role. Rama, who was first introduced by Bharathiraja in his film titled ‘Ennuyir Thozhan’, plays the mother of five children in the new serial.

Desikan, a popular Tamil TV artiste, will play the role of the father. The story of ‘Appanum Aathalum’ will focus on the difficulties parents face while bringing up their children and how in turn, children treat their parents when they grow up. Actress Suganya also plays the role of one of the daughters.

GV Prakash has composed the title song of the serial. The songs have been penned by lyricists Na Muthukumar and Snehan, a maiden TV attempt for both of them. The serial will be telecast Monday to Thursday at 8.30 pm.
